Neoregelia ‘Dim Sum’ is a petite and eye-catching bromeliad, typically forming rosettes about 6–7 inches across, ideal for terrariums, desktop gardens, or compact displays. Its striking foliage features yellow-green leaves with evenly spaced red horizontal bands on the undersides, creating a bold yet elegant striped pattern.
This variety is a hybrid of Screaming Tiger × Golden Boy developed by Lisa Vinzant. It maintains consistent coloration throughout its life cycle, without changing during blooming, ensuring its vivid pattern remains a standout feature.
To care for it properly, provide strong filtered or bright indirect light—avoid harsh direct sun to protect the color. Use a well-draining, airy mix like orchid bark combined with perlite and peat. Keep the central cup lightly filled with fresh water and allow the potting mix to dry slightly between waterings. Warm, humid conditions suit it well, and it thrives best with regular moisture without becoming soggy.
Following its subtle bloom, Neoregelia ‘Dim Sum’ produces pups (offsets) along slender stolons. These can be separated to propagate new plants or left attached to create fuller, beautiful clusters. With its compact size, dramatic patterning, and easy-care nature, this bromeliad is a captivating addition to any indoor plant collection.
