Hoya polyneura, commonly known as the Fishtail Hoya, is a graceful and visually captivating epiphytic vine prized for its narrow, pointed leaves with distinct, mermaid-tail-like veining. Native to the Himalayan foothills and parts of Southeast Asia, this Hoya is well-suited for hanging baskets, moss poles, or trailing from shelves, where its delicate foliage can be appreciated up close.

When mature, it produces clusters of small, fragrant, star-shaped flowers—typically creamy yellow with deep pink or red centers. These blooms offer a striking contrast to the plant’s slender, veined leaves and add an unexpected layer of beauty to its already ornamental appeal. Despite its exotic look, Hoya polyneura is relatively easy to care for.

It thrives in bright, indirect light and should be protected from direct sun, which can scorch the foliage. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, typically every 1–2 weeks, and reduce watering in cooler months. A chunky, well-draining soil mix—such as one made with orchid bark, perlite, and peat—is ideal. Moderate to high humidity is preferred, along with warm temperatures between 18–30°C. Like most Hoyas, it benefits from being slightly root-bound and only needs repotting when necessary.
